This poor guy should have been plut into gangster flicks years ago and he'd have been another Joe Pesci. The plot was a bit silly, you dont know if this "nepew "Joe rich is acting this way because of latent homosexual tendencies or what. But every word out of Armand Assante's mouth makes you think you are watching the real John G. all over again.

And the motivation for Joe's conversion from relative innocence to ruthlessness seems less resonant than it should be. That said, The Return of Joe Rich is a multidimensional work that gamely sets its sights on pathos, broad humor, cultural criticism and personal introspection.

"The Return of Joe Rich" is set in Chicago where every mob story should be set. Joe Rich is a story about a son/nephew, Joe (Sam Witwer) returning to Chicago to live with his mother after the financial crisis hits him and he has lost everything.

When his life starts to unravel, a man who had a conscience becomes a wanna-be mobster, as a Greek chorus of gangsters from the past weigh in.
